CURRENT EVENTS

Honoring Our Veterans at Peoples' Memorial Park Cemetery
Also Known as New Trinity Cemetery in Haltom City

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance is proud to have recently partnered with Pastor Kyev Tatum of New Mount Rose Baptist Church, American Legion Post 655, Skills City USA, and the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department Labor Detail in the caretaking and restoration efforts at the historic Peoples' Memorial Park Cemetery (also known as New Trinity Cemetery) in Haltom City.

This important African American cemetery is the final resting place of nearly 600 souls, with the majority being military veterans—including several Buffalo Soldiers, as well as heroes of World War I and World War II. Among those honored here is Ms. Florence Marie Rawls (Tech5), a World War II veteran who served courageously in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.

The Peoples' Memorial Park site contains three historic cemeteries combined into one, preserving the legacy and stories of generations who served their country and community with distinction.

We invite everyone to join us on Veterans Day, November 11th, 2025, at 3:00 PM for a special ceremony to honor the lives and contributions of these veterans. Your presence helps us pay tribute and ensure their memory endures.

Let us come together in gratitude and remembrance as we honor these remarkable men and women at this sacred site.

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance Presented at Pelham Community’s Annual Homecoming – Honoring Buffalo Soldier History in Partnership with Mr. Paul Allen

Together with Mr. Allen, our team shared powerful stories, historical insights, and discussed the enduring impact of the Buffalo Soldiers, honoring their service, perseverance, and significant role in shaping American history. Through interactive presentations and educational segments, attendees gained a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices and achievements of these brave veterans.

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance is grateful to the Pelham Community and Mr. Allen for supporting our mission of historical education and for providing an opportunity to celebrate and honor the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers.

PAST EVENTS

National Black Police Association 53rd Annual Education & Training Conference

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance, in Partnership with Mr. Paul Allen, Founder and President of Dallas County Buffalo Soldiers - Lancaster Chapter, was invited to the National Black Police Association's 53rd Annual Education & Training Conference in August 2025 as guests. In addition to being military veterans, several members of our organization and Mr. Paul Allen are former Dallas Police Officers, so this event was special in that it allowed us to show support for the officers who, like our military veterans, put their lives on the line daily to protect and serve. We also had the pleasure of meeting Commissioner John Wiley Price, who was the guest speaker.

Buffalo Soldiers Camp,  Fort 24th at New Mount Rose

During Summer 2025, we partnered with Pastor Kyev Tatum and New Mount Rose Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, to teach life and survival skills (such as marching and physical fitness, setting up an encampment, horsemanship, classes on decisions and consequences, emotional intelligence, and cooking experiments) to their youth in Buffalo Soldiers Camp.

Memorial Day 2025 Celebration in historic Pelham, Texas!

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance, in partnership with the Dallas County Buffalo Soldiers, celebrated Memorial Day by paying homage at Pelham Cemetery, in the historic Freedmen's town of Pelham, Texas (located in Navarro County).

Tribute to LaVert and Feeding the Unhoused

Another fellowship via hot meals cooked onsite and served to the unhoused in South Dallas near Jeffries and Dawson Street in partnership with New Hope and Faith Baptist Church. Sending a big "Thank You" to everyone who participated to help make this a success. This feeding was done in honor of our late Sergeant at Arms, LaVert Williams (U.S. Marine Corps Veteran), who was called home to be with our Lord. We miss him dearly, as he was our cook and our brother in arms. We released balloons in remembrance of him after the feeding.
Gone but never forgotten.

Southwestern Christian College

Our team had the privilege of visiting Southwestern Christian College at the invitation of Dr. Walter Price. Our mission was to educate students about the rich history of the Buffalo Soldiers. During our visit, we conducted an interactive presentation detailing the origins and contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers—African American soldiers who served primarily on the Western frontier following the Civil War. These brave individuals played pivotal roles in various military campaigns and were among the first park rangers in U.S. national parks.

Artifact Displays and Educational Exhibits

To provide a tangible connection to history, we showcased a collection of artifacts commonly used during the Buffalo Soldiers' era. These items included uniforms, tools, and personal belongings that offered students a glimpse into the daily lives of these soldiers. Notably, we displayed replica weapons that, while authentic in appearance, are non-functional and strictly for educational purposes.

Student Engagement and Feedback

The students of Southwestern Christian College displayed keen interest and enthusiasm throughout the presentation. Their insightful questions and active participation underscored the importance of preserving and sharing this significant aspect of American history.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Walter Price and the administration of Southwestern Christian College for their warm welcome and commitment to enriching their students' educational experiences. We look forward to future collaborations that continue to honor and disseminate the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers.

Skyline High School Historical Education and Exibition

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance is dedicated to educating students about the significant contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers. At Skyline High School, we brought history to life by immersing students in the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers through interactive exhibits of artifacts from the era we are teaching on and hands-on experiences.

Lancaster Recreation Center

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance was honored to have been invited to participate in the Black History Arts Festival at the Lancaster Recreation Center. This event celebrated Black culture, heritage, and creativity through live music, art and historical exhibits, and a vibrant vendor market. Our team was excited to join this celebration, reflecting our commitment to honoring African American military history and engaging with the community.

Lancaster Senior Life Center

Participating in the Black History Art Festival at the Lancaster Senior Life Center on February 22, 2025, was an enriching experience that allowed us to engage deeply with the community. The festival featured live music, a vibrant vendor market, and showcased Black art, food, culture, and more. Our volunteer efforts included assisting with event setup, managing our historical exhibit, and facilitating interactive sessions with attendees. This involvement not only supported the festival's operations but also provided us with meaningful interactions with the seniors, enriching our understanding of their experiences and histories.

Volunteering at such events is vital for fostering community engagement and preserving cultural heritage. It offers an opportunity to connect with diverse narratives and contribute to the celebration of rich traditions. The Lancaster Senior Life Center frequently organizes events like these to honor and celebrate cultural milestones, providing a platform for community members to come together and reflect on shared histories. We made a new friend, Sergeant Major (retired) Eugene Lott (pictured below) who brought and set up his traveling museum. He has some amazing artifacts!

Engaging with seniors during these festivals is particularly rewarding, as it allows for the exchange of stories and experiences that are foundational to community identity. Our participation underscored the importance of intergenerational connections and highlighted the role of volunteers in enriching community events.

Veterans Day Parade (Fair Park)

This year as we prepared for the Veterans Day Parade in partnership with the Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation and the Buffalo Soldiers Lancaster Chapter, we took a moment to reflect on the indomitable spirit of the Buffalo Soldiers—brave men who served in the U.S. Army during a time of immense hardship and prejudice. They not only fought for the freedom of others but also for their own right to serve and succeed. Join us in honoring their legacy and supporting our current veterans! Let's ensure the Buffalo Soldiers' story is never forgotten!

Veterans Day Parade (Oak Cliff - Cedarcrest)

On November 9, 2024, the heart of Dallas's District 4 pulsed with pride and gratitude as the community gathered for the 5th Annual Veterans Day Parade. Organized by Councilwoman Carolyn King Arnold, this event honored the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation. The procession commenced at Cedar Crest Cathedral and journeyed down Lancaster Road. This route was thoughtfully chosen to pass by the Dallas Veterans Affairs Hospital, allowing veterans who might not have been able to attend in person to witness the tribute from their rooms. The streets were lined with community members waving flags and expressing their heartfelt appreciation for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.

Following the parade, attendees gathered for a brief program that featured music and delicious food, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. This celebration provided an opportunity for residents to connect, share stories, and further honor the veterans in attendance.

Empowering Youth Through Horsemanship

In addition to the day's festivities, a special horsemanship class was offered to the youth. This initiative aimed to introduce young participants to the fundamentals of horseback riding and animal care, promoting discipline, responsibility, and a connection to nature. The District 4 Veterans Day Parade exemplifies the unity and gratitude of the Dallas community. By honoring our veterans and investing in our youth, events like these strengthen the bonds that hold our community together, ensuring that the legacy of service and sacrifice is passed down to future generations.

Cedar Hill Harvest Heritage Festival

At Cedar Hill State Park's Annual Harvest Heritage Festival, Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance proudly showcased our unwavering commitment to veterans and the community. This event, themed "Growing our Community," was a celebration of heritage, unity, and service.

Honoring Our Veterans

Our participation underscored our mission to honor and support veterans from all backgrounds. Engaging with festival attendees allowed us to share the rich history of the Buffalo Soldiers, ensuring their legacy remains vibrant and recognized.

Community Engagement and Outreach

Interacting with local families and individuals at the festival provided an invaluable platform to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face during their transition to civilian life. We highlighted our initiatives aimed at easing this transition, including community gardening projects that foster camaraderie and provide therapeutic benefits.

Collaborative Efforts

Our presence at the festival was further enriched by collaborations with organizations such as the Buffalo Soldiers and Texas Parks and Wildlife. These partnerships amplify our outreach and deepen our impact within the community, reinforcing the collective effort to support our veterans.

Looking Forward

We are dedicated to building upon the connections made during the Harvest Heritage Festival. By engaging in such community events, we strive to create a supportive environment where veterans can share their stories, access resources, and find a sense of belonging. Our commitment to service extends beyond the festival, as we continue to work towards reducing the challenges veterans face and promoting their successful reintegration into civilian life.

Community Gardening

Our dedicated team rolled up their sleeves and got to work transforming an overgrown plot to create a community garden. With every weed pulled, and every row planted, our team showed the power of service, community, and a shared commitment to creating spaces that nourish the body and spirit. These photos capture our team hard at work, from chopping weeds to preparing the soil for a garden that would soon feed and inspire the neighborhood.

Time for Harvest

The photos below show our team gathering fresh collard greens from the farm of Mr. Paul Allen, President of the Lancaster Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers, which he planted a few months earlier.  This harvest is a true celebration, bringing fresh, nutritious, organic food directly to our community and demonstrating what we can achieve when we work together. Thank you to everyone who supported this project. We look forward to many more harvests and continued growth in our community!

Together in Service

We are thrilled to have the pleasure of partnering with New Hope and Faith Baptist Church to make a difference in South Dallas by coming together to cook and serve the unsheltered at a local homeless encampment to provide nourishing meals, essential resources, toiletry products, and support for our neighbors in need. We welcome anyone who wishes to volunteer or support our cause. Let's work together to build a stronger, more compassionate Dallas!

Ross Cemetery Historical Designation in McKinney, Texas

On June 1st, 2024, our organization had the honor of participating in a deeply moving Memorial Day Commemoration in McKinney, Texas. This ceremony was held to pay tribute to the many veterans who rest at Ross Cemetery, including the esteemed Mr. Walter Faulkner, a Buffalo Soldier who served in the 9th Cavalry Regiment and was particularly significant as it marked the city's celebration of Ross Cemetery's designation as a historical site. We were privileged to share this momentous occasion with the mayors of Allen, McKinney, and Plano, along with other dignitaries and community members.

Bravo Zulu Homefront Alliance proudly partnered with Mr. Paul Allen, President of Dallas County Buffalo Soldiers Association - Lancaster Chapter, to honor the legacy of these brave servicemen and women. Together, we stand in gratitude and remembrance of their sacrifices.
